Finally!

For the past year and a half to two years, I've had leg swelling, pressue, pain and discoloration. After numerous doctor visits, this past Wednesday I finally found out what it is. It's called superficial venous reflux disease. It sounds more serious than it is, but if left untreated it will worsen and could potentially lead to blood clots. Basically what is happening is, I have a number of veins in both legs that are pumping my blood back down into my legs as opposed to toward my heart. Alas, I must have minor surgery done on both legs to close those veins enabling my blood to be rerouted back to my heart. Yup, I'm a bit nervous, but it must be done. However, I'm really happy it will be over with soon!

Aveda's Clean Water Campaign

I work very part time at an Aveda store, usually only about 20 hours or so a month. It's a fun side job. Anyway, they are currently hosting a clean water campaign for Earth Month (April), which I'm really proud of. The campaign promotes organic farming, which helps prevent and reduce pestdicides and other harmful chemicals from going into water supplies.

"Every 15 seconds a child dies from lack of access to clean water."

Visit an Aveda store or check out their website to see how you can help! :]

Gold's Gym & asthma don't mix

I went to the gym yesterday... and had an asthma attack. Good times (severe sarcasm) ha! I haven't had a "real" attack in a long long time. Just goes to show that I've got to tone it down a bit. I do believe we are going again today, at least I think Hae-jin and I are, wooo!

I got the new Wired magazine yesterday, but I haven't gotten a chance to look through it yet. When I do, I shall report. ;]

Goodness. Omek.

The most amazing (nerdy) Legends of the Hidden Temple website, EVER! Complete with diagrams to show you how to get through Omek's Temple for each episode. OMG!

"Although Legends of the Hidden Temple was only produced for three years, a whopping 120 episodes were created! Many websites that include episode lists are incomprehensive or do not include much detail, and so I have devoted this list to provide a more exact explanation of each episode. Just click on an episode title to see all about that particular show!"

Now that's dedication.

New Template, ta da!

Ok, so the new template is 75% done, and I figured out why my FTP configuration wasn't working. All better. I still may change some little things here and there, but for the most part I'm going to keep it this way for a while.

Thank goodness it's Friday. Work has been crazy today, so much to do, but I found some extra time to update. My boss has 3 closings coming up in the next week, so I'm going crazy making sure everything is in order.

Tonight, I am working at Aveda until 9, then possibly hanging out with the girls afterward. Hopefully I'm not too exhausted from working a 12 hour day, ha! Ben leaves for West Virginia on Sunday, and he'll be gone for a week. I'm sure he'll have a ton of fun out in the boonies of WV playing with his lights, hehehe!

I realize I haven't been posting much about music lately. Meh. I'm trying to change that. The new Andrew Bird album, Armchair Apocrypha, came out on the 20th. It's awesome! However, I'm still a bit partial to The Mysterious Production of Eggs. Oddly enough, his voice sounds a bit different on this album, and I'm not terribly fond of the change, but hey, it's still great.

Testing testing

I'm testing the whole mobile blogger thing out.
This rather pixelated kiss is intended for Benjamin, haha!

Bridal Showers eins und drei

Wedding planning has been progressing rather nicely. I'm really happy Ben and I decided to begin as soon as we got engaged. It's crazy to think that we'll be married in a little over 5 months. I'll be a married woman. Wow. Amazing.

On July 12th, I'm flying home to NJ for my first wedding dress fitting and bridal shower. I'm so excited. My dress fitting is on Friday the 13th... oooeee! The one I tried on was a few sizes too big, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what it looks like in my size.

The following day, Lydia is throwing me a NJ bridal shower. I'm really looking forward to everyone getting together. It'll be a grand ol' time!

Then, when I return to VA Charity is throwing me a bridal shower on August 4th. Wooohooo! We thought of a really fun idea for it. One word: waffles!

Sushi & Barnes and Noble

Last night Amy and I went for sushi, and it was delicious! I had edamame, a glass of amazing plum wine, and chirashi. So so good. One of the best sushi restaurants that I've been to in the area. Great atmosphere, as well as great service.

Then, Amy and I met up with Hae-jin at Barnes & Noble. I ended up getting a book called Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. What struck me about the book was that the first chapter ended with a Ukrainian proverb stating, "A tale that begins with a beet will end with the devil." Oh the bloody bloody beet makes such yummy borscht. It also happens to make your pee pink. Ha!

Speaking of Ukrainian treats, I'm really looking forward to my Mom's traditional Ukrainian Easter dinner next month. Benjamin will be able to experience it for the very first time. Alas, I've been a bit homesick lately, but nothing I can't handle. ;]

Wow

It's been so long since I've updated this blog. Life has been crazy, crazy good, crazy crazy. Lots of wedding planning. I work 75% of the time, and spend the rest of it with Benjamin, friends, and family.

I was having some trouble pulishing using my FTP server, so I'm hosting my blog on blogspot for the time being. I'm also going to put together a new layout as soon as I have some extra time, which may be Saturday.

Ta ta for now!
